Identity

Do you know who you are? Do you know that your identity is not defined by what you do, or by what you have?

Many people struggle with their identity. Many seek their identity or self-worth in the work they do, or through the constant pursuit of success Yet they always struggle with insecurity and the feeling that they are not good enough. What if you lose that job or don't achieve your intended success? Do you then no longer have an identity, are you no longer worth anything!

Of course not! Because your identity is not in what you do or how much success you achieve! Your identity is in Jesus! He chose you, He values you. He loves you exactly as you are right now.

He doesn't say, "Now do lots of good things first, then maybe I'll find you good enough." No, on the contrary! You are justified in Him! It is not about what you do, but about who you are before Him. Jesus went to the cross for you because He loves you so much. By that act of His, you are justified in Him, approved by Him. But why did He actually go to the cross?

He went to the cross for you because He values you. He did not want us to be lost forever, but to reign and live as Children of His for all eternity!

Jesus' first disciples were fishermen. Rugged hard-working men, they had barely had any education. But Jesus saw something in those men. He said, "I will make you fishers of men." Jesus Himself was the son of a carpenter. But His value was not in what He did, but in Who He was.

Do you know who you are?

The truth is: You are loved, loved and precious. You are made in the image of God. That is your identity! God's Word says you are of His lineage. Find your identity in Him today. Stop trying to find it in what you do!

Your job can lose you, successes achieved are history at some point. Having things is temporary. But when you find your identity in Jesus, your life has lasting value no matter what happens.

Go to Jesus, find Him, and you will find your identity in Jesus. He is ready to help you.
